First Day of College

It has been a long, long time since I have taken a "first day of school picture". I think the last time I took a picture was when at least one of the kids had a Scooby Doo back pack. Aubrey tells me that was when she was in first grade.

So I cajoled Aubrey and Peter into humoring me and letting me take a First Day of College picture. It will be the last school picture I can take...till graduation.

Wow! I can't believe I have reached this stage in my life. I thought I would have kids around for-ev-er.

You can tell they were making the best of humoring me...notice the UVU t-shirts...

Then they offered the "cheesy grin" pose rendition. I am glad to say good bye to "free education" fees and PTO membership dues.

This is the "artsy" rendition...(ha, ha, Katie doesn't have to worry about me ever usurping her position as the official family photog)...I am glad to say good riddance to unproductive parent-teacher conferences...

I'm just not sure I'm ready to let my bright, eager, and capable young adults go...I kind of even miss Scooby Doo...

And finally, Aubrey and Peter offer the perfect finish! ;)

Hmmm...Then again...maybe I should just let them put their best "ends" forward!

Going To the Zoo...

It has been years since we have been to the Hogle Zoo in Salt Lake City. My memories of past trips to that particular zoo are shrouded in heat, stinky places, and sleeping animals. Well, things haven't really changed all that much. This time, though, it was a lot of fun.

We went to the Hogle Zoo courtesy of Reed's company, Sirsi-Dynix. Unlike the past trips, all of the kids in our crew are 17 and over, and didn't need a stroller or to be cajoled into doing anything. Reed, luke, Peter, Aubrey, nephew Chris, and I got to spend the day together and create some memories.

We saw a bird show, were taught about elephants by their trainers, and cruised about the place wondering from animal house to animal house. It was hot. It was stinky. Most of the animals were sleeping. It was fun.

And on the way home...my baby girl still fell asleep...

Here We Go!

Okay, I've tried this "Blog-thing" before and...it didn't work. Maybe I should say, I didn't work. Dear Katie did her best with Saundra looking on to get me going and started on blogging. Well, with Aubrey tutoring me, I am offering my first post.

Since I am scrapbooking impaired, I am hoping that this blog will enable me to share some of the happenings in the family and our lives. Be patient with me as I learn how to build my blog and venture into this new realm--new to me anyway. I want this to be fun for me and maybe this will be fun for those of you who read it. Lol, it will definitely be random...so, here we go!
